Door 15 – nRF9151 SiP
nRF9151 SiP
Low power SiP with integrated LTE-M/NB-IoT and DECT NR+ modem, NTN and GNSS
The nRF9151 System-in-Package (SiP) from Nordic Semiconductor is a highly integrated, low-power solution designed for cellular IoT and DECT NR+ applications. It combines a powerful application processor, advanced security features, and a flexible multimode modem in a compact form factor.
At its core, the nRF9151 features a 64 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor dedicated to user applications, equipped with 1 MB of flash memory and 256 KB of RAM. This processor is supported by Arm TrustZone® technology and Arm CryptoCell™ 310, providing robust system protection and key management for secure IoT deployments.
The SiP integrates a multimode LTE-M/NB-IoT modem compliant with 3GPP Release 14, supporting both Cat-M1 and Cat-NB1/NB2 standards. It also includes support for DECT NR+, a non-cellular 5G radio standard, and GNSS (GPS/QZSS) for positioning. The modem covers a wide frequency range (700–2200 MHz for LTE, 915 MHz and 1.9 GHz for NR+), enabling global operation. The SiP also supports Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) for a global coverage. The nRF9151 supports both Power Class 3 (23 dBm) and Power Class 5 (20 dBm) output, offering flexibility for battery-powered designs.
A key advantage of the nRF9151 is its high level of integration: it includes an integrated PMIC, passives, and crystal, and supports integrated SIM solutions such as nuSIM and SoftSIM. The SiP is pre-certified for global operation and comes in a compact 11x12x1 mm LGA package, which is 20% smaller than its predecessor, the nRF9160.
The nRF9151 is designed for a wide range of IoT applications, including asset tracking, smart metering, industrial monitoring, and more. It is supported by Nordic’s nRF Connect SDK and development kits, enabling rapid prototyping and development.

Getting started:
The nRF9151 comes with several development tools – the nRF9151 Development Kit, the newly released nRF9151 SMA Development Kit and the Thingy:91X multi-sensor prototyping platform.
The nRF9151 DK is a pre-certified, single-board development kit for the nRF9151 SiP, supporting LTE-M, NB-IoT, GNSS, and DECT NR+. It features global antennas, Arduino Uno compatibility, user-programmable LEDs and buttons, onboard SEGGER J-Link debugger, SIM card support, and is ideal for rapid prototyping and evaluation of cellular IoT applications
The nRF9151 SMA DK is a specialized development kit for RF engineers and advanced users, offering maximum flexibility for cellular IoT, NR+, and NTN testing. It replaces internal antennas with SMA connectors for external antenna or lab equipment use and comes with high-performance antennas included. The kit provides full GPIO access, Arduino Uno Rev3 compatibility, user-programmable LEDs and buttons, dual SIM support with trial IoT SIMs, and on-board SEGGER J-Link for programming and debugging.
The Nordic Thingy:91X is a battery-operated prototyping platform built around the nRF9151 SiP, supporting LTE-M, NB-IoT, DECT NR+, GNSS, Wi-Fi (via nRF7002), and Bluetooth LE (via nRF5340). It features a range of environmental and motion sensors, user-programmable buttons and LEDs, and is ideal for rapid development of cellular IoT and asset tracking applications
