Offering more flexibility in motor design, the HAL 3025 uses SixSense technology to detect the vertical components of the magnetic field and determine the full 360° rotation angle. Its interference field compensation, in accordance with ISO 11452-8, reduces the influence of external magnetic fields. This allows the power electronics to be placed closer to the sensor. Additional magnetic shielding or oversized target magnets are not required. A simple two-pole ferrite magnet in an end-of-shaft configuration is sufficient. This facilitates compact motor designs and can reduce both component and system costs.
For safety-critical applications, the sensor features a single-chip fail-safe architecture. Integrated diagnostic functions detect errors directly within the IC, reducing the need for external monitoring by the motor controller. Compared to multi-chip solutions, this reduces system complexity, the number of components and the space required on the printed circuit board.
The fast analogue signal path enables short response times and a high output bandwidth. Microcontrollers or ECUs can calculate the absolute angular position with high resolution via differential or single-ended sine/cosine outputs. Signal parameters such as gain, offset, orthogonality, zero angle,
and magnetic bandwidth can be programmed via the output pin. No additional programming pins are required. Pin compatibility with the HAL 3020 and HAL 3021 also facilitates upgrades to existing designs.
