Overvoltage protection in three designs: New Self-Control Fuses from EATON BussmannTM at Rutronik

06/26/2023 Product News

Ispringen, June 2023 – The new Self-Control Fuse (SCF) series from EATON BussmannTM is now part of the Rutronik range. The battery protection with three terminals is excellently suited for surface mounting due to its flat and compact design and is ideal for single-cell and multi-cell battery packs. The SCFs protect against both overcurrent and overcharging. This makes them predestined for a wide range of uses in consumer, computer, power, industrial, home appliance, handheld and medical applications, among others. They are available in 4.0 x 3.0 mm for a rated current range of 12 to 22 A (SCF4030), 5.4 mm x 3.2 mm for a rated current range of 12 to 30 A (SCF5432) and 9.5 mm x 5.0 mm for a rated current of 30 to 45 A (SCF9550) at www.rutronik24.com.

The Self-Control Fuse has an integrated heating element with fuse for IC/FET triggering capability that responds quickly to an unexpected cell or pack level overvoltage or overtemperature. For high efficiency in lithium-ion battery packs, the SCF series operates with a wide range of current ratings and low internal resistance. With this series, Eaton offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of self-controlling fuses for series connections of up to 24 Lithium-ion battery cells.

Further features:

  • RoHS compliant
  • Halogen free
  • Rated currents from 12 A to 45 A
  • Easy pairing of rated current and battery cells in row

Application examples:

  • E-bikes
  • Robotics
