REACH - The EU chemicals legislation

WEEE - The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive

What is REACH?

REACH is a EU law on chemicals and their safe use. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals.

REACH replaces numerous EU laws related to chemicals and is complementary to other environmental and safety legislation but it will not replace sector specific legislation (for example on cosmetics or detergents).

REACH: Rutroniks point of view

To our current understanding registration of products applies only to banned substances which are exposed under regular conditions of usage of the products during life time (disposal not included) and which exceed defined quantity limits. Therefore, we are not obliged to registrate. Of course we will fulfil our information obligations according to article 33 of REACH based on the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).

Please note that Rutronik being a distributor without any development and manufacturing responsibility totally relies on the publications of the manufacturers. Of course, we will make the manufacturers’ declarations available for our customers as soon they have arrived.

Considering the complexity of the issue and the number of products and manufacturers, we count on you to accept that we cannot answer customer-specific questionnaires or sign any general and comprehensive statement on our behalf.

Information on WEEE

According to the legal provisions of the Directive 2012/19/EC (WEEE – Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment) Owners of old electronic devices are obliged to dispose of them separately from municipal waste. Consumers have several options such as collection points at the public bodies responsible for waste management. In the case of devices, where none of the outer dimensions are longer than 25 cm, there is also the possibility to give them back to us. If you want to make use of this option, please contact us via the contact information below.

Before returning a device, all removable batteries and accumulators have to be removed and disposed of separately. It is the consumer’s own responsibility to delete data securely and permanently from the old device before returning it, especially personal data.

All devices covered by the WEEE Directive which must be disposed of separately, are marked with the following sign:
