"Rutronik is proud to act as a donor for 'Stafet for Livet'," explains Thomas Rudel, CEO Rutronik. "Cancer is a terrible and devastating disease that must be fought with everything we have. And this is the reason why we are supporting 'Relay for Life'," says Rudel.
Rutronik employee triggers involvement
The marathon fundraiser takes place throughout Denmark from June to August and is organized by the Danish Cancer Society (www.cancer.dk). This is also the charity that receives the donations collected during the inspiring event. An employee at Rutronik called our attention to the race. She is actually taking part in the relay as a member of a large running club from Greve - one of the towns participating in the event. In 2016, 180 members of her club raised 43,000 Danish kroner (roughly €5,800). This year, 200 club members are expected to compete and a target of 50,000 kroner (roughly €6,700) has been set. In Greve alone, up to 2,000 supporters will come together to participate in the 24-hour fundraiser 'Stafet for Livet'. During this period, the participants take turns to run or walk laps around the track to symbolize that cancer never sleeps and sufferers face a round-the-clock battle. Some of the runners, called 'fighters', are either currently battling the disease or have overcome it. They wear special yellow t-shirts and are invited to partake in exclusive presentations by famous Danish personalities. This community celebration is additionally filled with fun events such as a tombola.
