Rutronik recognized for Social and Ecological Commitment

Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH receives another CSR certificate for social and ecological commitment from “Work for People with Disabilities Charity Organization” (Arbeit für Menschen mit Behinderung gGmbH, AfB) for the year 2017. The partnership between the organizations in 2017 resulted in a new position for a disabled person, conserved valuable environmental resources, and prevented damaging impacts on the environment.

AfB and Rutronik have had a trusting working relationship in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) since as early as 2005. On Rutronik's behalf, the charitable organization processes IT equipment that is no longer needed and recycles it for further, private usage. Several times per year AfB employees collect the outdated IT equipment and erase the data on it using a certified process. The hardware is then cleaned and, if necessary, repaired or modified before being remarketed.

Markus Ziegler, Head of IT at Rutronik, considers this an optimal solution: “Our old equipment is perfect for private use after being refurbished by AfB. With this partnership, we are creating employment for people with disabilities and at the same time helping the environment. Sustainable business is part of Rutronik's corporate responsibility.”

AfB is a charitable “integration company”. People with and without disabilities work together in almost all the company's departments, and all areas have barrier-free accessibility. In the 18 AfB locations in Germany, Austria, France, and Switzerland and online at, private individuals, schools, and associations can purchase the refurbished IT products and other accessories with a warranty of up to three years.

“Rutronik receiving this distinction again proves the advantages of this partnership for both sides. We are delighted to have enjoyed these years together and are looking forward to more years cooperating together in the name of sustainability,” says Alexander Schwander, Key Account Manager at AfB.
