Rutronik donates for young cardiac patients

  Corporate News

On Saturday, the distribution company Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH handed over a check for 9000 euros to the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder e.V. (BVHK), an association of parents' initiatives in Germany that represents families with young cardiac patients. This sum was raised as a result of a spectacular event: Rutronik had the so-called Art Car designed that features 46 companies with their logos.

An Art Car is a vehicle that has been turned into a work of art while remaining fully functional. Rutronik's Distribution Art Car is an Audi R8 LMS, and it was given its special appearance by the artist Rudi Fielitz. He included the Rutronik logo and those of 46 other electronic sector companies. The Distribution Art Car is at the start in, amongst others, the international DMV GTC racing series, as well as being presented at various trade fairs.

Children with cardiac conditions at the Hockenheimring.

50 children with heart problems and their families were invited to the Hockenheimring on Saturday, 23 April. They were able to watch the race live, have a look around the pits and take a seat behind the steering wheel of the Distribution Art Car for a souvenir photo. Prof. Elisabeth Sticker, a member of the BVHK executive board and herself the mother of a son with a cardiac condition, accepted the check for 9000 euros.

One in every hundred children born in Germany has a heart defect. They and their families have to cope with major problems: Constant worry, long stays in hospital and looking after the children make demands on the whole family — not only on the emotional and psychological levels, but also financially. Hermine Nock of the BVHK explains: "They get local support from our 26 regional member associations throughout Germany. In addition, we provide a range of family-oriented offers, as well as brochures and online information that are produced by those affected for those affected. Our work is financed to a great extent by means of donations. Therefore we are very pleased indeed to receive this generous donation from Rutronik — although this day at the races at the Hockenheimring is just as valuable for our young patients! This is where they can forget their worries and problems for a while."
