In recent years, the microcontroller manufacturer Nordic Semiconductor has developed into an innovative top-level Rutronik supplier and is renowned, above all, for its expertise in the field of ultra-low-power wireless solutions. Both Rutronik partners have now agreed a cooperation deal to take development to a new level: Segger and Nordic provide developers who base their development work on the Nordic families nRF51 or nRF52 with the Embedded Studio Suite, free of charge and without any memory or performance restrictions. Keil, IAR, and GNU-experienced developers can continue to utilize their standard environments. Additionally, newcomers and developers with Segger experience now have access to an established, commercial, and professional alternative for which Rutronik can offer direct support thanks to the long-term cooperation.
Embedded Studio is a complete all-in-one Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for embedded applications. It includes a powerful Project Manager, a Source Code Editor, a C/C++-GNU Compiler Collection, CLANG/compilers, an Integrated Debugger with advanced debug information windows and direct J-Link integration as well as version control features for automatic deployment of finished applications. Nordic delivers complete software solutions for its nRF51 and nRF52 series of SoCs, which until now have relied on the use of either commercial IDEs for development or manual set-up of open-source IDEs. Now, with the licensing of Embedded Studio, developers using the nRF5 SDK gain free access to a commercial IDE with full nRF51 and nRF52 series SoCs support.
Rutronik customers benefit from this cooperation, in particular, due to the well-established support network of both companies.
