The first Automotive Congress organized by the Rutronik Automotive Business Unit and held in Pforzheim, Germany, on June 5 and 6 was met with a positive response. A total of 190 guests were treated to top-class speeches by industry experts on the strategic challenges facing the industry.

The symposium on June 6 dealt with the numerous strategic challenges of the automotive industry. Nine speeches delivered by experts from OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and associations addressed industry-relevant topics. The spectrum ranged from tangible solutions at component and system level to market analyses of growth markets in Southeast Asia. Johannes Eberl and Wilhelm Viessmann from BMW demonstrated which measures the Group wants to employ to compensate the shortage of components.

All the speeches focused on the trending topics of e-mobility and automated and autonomous driving. Representatives from AVX, Infineon, Rohm, and ST outlined detailed solutions at component level for the ever-increasing electrification of cars. Prof. Dr. Andreas Teuner, Vice President, Engineering ADAS at ZF Group, showed how neural networks can teach cars how to drive autonomously. In his speech, Christian Päschel, VP Global Sales at Hella, analyzed how changing market structures affect the orientation of global car electronics sales.

“We are very happy with the way the first congress went and the extremely positive feedback we received. It shows that we addressed the right and key topics. The position of the Rutronik Automotive Business Unit as an intermediary between OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and component manufacturers is unique throughout the industry and enables us to bring together important market players at management level to exchange experiences. This is to everyone’s advantage", says Uwe Rahn, director of the Automotive Business Unit at Rutronik.

On the first day of the event, the participants were able to gain a detailed insight into innovative concepts in the fields of logistics and Supply Chain Management during a tour of the Rutronik logistics center in Eisingen.
