10 Years of Rutronik Nordic

  Corporate News

Rutronik subsidiary Rutronik Nordic AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden, and the offices in Helsinki, Finland, and Oslo, Norway, celebrate their 10th anniversary this year.

The subsidiary Rutronik Nordic AB was founded in 2005 in Stockholm, Sweden. In the same year, Rutronik installed offices in Norway and Finland. Last year, Rutronik has combined Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark to form a joint Nordic sales region.

"Our aim was to enable much more effective representation by bundling our activities", explained Country Manager Hans-Henrik Hybholt. "This step has proven to be the right one, with all offices seeing considerable success." Today, the distributor is represented by four offices and 31 employees in these countries. As Country Manager Nordic, Hans-Henrik Hybholt is responsible for the sales region and reports to International Sales Director Paul Scholten.

Global Broadliner Rutronik is one of the worldwide leading broadline distributors, ranking as the third-largest European distributor of electronic components (source: Europartners Distribution Report 2014) and around the world on position eleven (source: Global Purchasing, May 2015). Today, the company has more than 70 sales offices in Europe, Asia and America and over 1,400 staff. Its product range encompasses semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components as well as boards, storage technologies, displays and wireless products.

Under RUTRONIK EMBEDDED, all products and services for specific embedded applications from the product areas of boards, storage, displays, wireless and peripherals, are bundled.

RUTRONIK SMART brings together sensors, wireless components, micro-controllers, power management and safety solutions for devices within the Internet of Things (IoT). With the Automotive Business Unit, Rutronik offers automotive customers selected components from chosen manufacturers and specific technical and commercial support on a global level. Recently, Rutronik opened its new warehouse and logistics center near its headquarter in Ispringen, Germany. It expands the surface area by over 9,000 m², providing Rutronik with more than twice the available space than before. A new concept makes internal logistics processes more efficient, customers therefore benefit from a high level of availability and shorter delivery times.

Rutronik Nordic

The largest target markets of Rutronik Nordic include the telecommunications market, which is currently being boosted by the Internet of Things, a phenomenon that has been the cause of many businesses being established. Other focus markets are automotive and industrial control, and in Finland, the medical market also has a major role. In Norway, the focus is on the oil and gas industry, offshore, and the fishing industry. Rutronik Nordic has achieved stable growth over the past ten years. Even in Finland, which is struggling with the outsourcing of even more production capacities to Asia and Eastern Europe, Rutronik has recorded growth in revenue and market share. The team is currently acquiring a larger office in Helsinki.

Rutronik also launched its Wireless Competence Center in 2005, which is situated in Sweden due to the concentration of mobile technology manufacturers in the Nordic countries and the available expertise and experience here. However, the know-how that is gathered here is put at the disposal of all customers worldwide. The now roughly 20-strong Competence Center supports customers in selecting the ideal protocols and profiles, hardware and software, certificates and security concepts. Rutronik's wireless product range spans a diverse spectrum of wireless hardware solutions from transceiver chips to connectivity chips to systems-on-a-chip, from manufacturers such as Nordic Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Microchip, Telit, and Redpine Signals, as well as all standard wireless protocols. Specific M2M SIM cards including card holders, as required for the realization of Industry 4.0, are a particular highlight in the portfolio.
