The Environmental Management System – setting a good example

Our Environmental Management System (EMS) focuses on Standard ISO14001, which requires compliance with statutory and official requirements, and also requires other interested or affected parties to be taken into consideration.
For this reason we have set ourselves high targets:
- compliance with statutory and official stipulations,
- reduction of environmental load to a minimum,
- the prevention of wastage of natural resources,
- the reuse and recycling of waste materials by means of
- waste separating processes,
- handling hazardous materials with care,
- to include energy-recovery products in our product portfolio,
- to assist our customers with their own enviromental objectives,
- to obtain information about the materials in the products
we distribute and to provide this to our own customers.
The starting point is to determine the environmental criteria that define the framework of our environmental activities. We look at waste, protecting the soil and ground water, fire prevention, the consumption of energy and resources, the handling of flammable materials and water-polluting materials, hazardous materials, noise air pollution. We determine the risk potential and from this derive an environmental program that contains the measures and the resulting
projects.
We focus on preventing, and properly disposing of waste, using reusable packaging, reducing paper consumption, and reducing the consumption of power, water and heating oil. Because our company has grown, and due to the effects of climate change, these are now taxed at a considerably increased
rate. Indeed, we have expanded our portfolio of solar energy products, and are planning to install a photovoltaic power generation system on the roofs of our operating buildings. We have been offering our customers reusable packaging for many years now, and we also make use of customers‘ own reusable containers in our logistics chain.
